Carl: Gather ‘round everybody. It’s time to play:
Chorus: What’s That Word?!
Carl: Yes, it’s time to play What’s That Word, the game where I give you the definition and you tell me the word it defines. Let’s start easy:
What’s the word for someone who straps on a bomb, goes into a crowded restaurant, and blows himself up along with lots of innocent people?
Chorus: Terrorist!
Carl: Very good. Now, what do we call someone who sits in a control booth, looks at a computer screen, and drops thousands of pounds of bombs from an unmanned missile over a suspected terrorist hideout, hitting dozens of women and children?
Voice #1: American soldier?
Voice #2: Israeli freedom fighter?
Carl: Well, you’re both right. But remember, we’re looking for just one word. The answer is: “Patriot.”
Try this: What do we call those dozens of women and children who were hiding in their cellars when the bombs dropped?
Voice #1: Collateral damage?
Carl: I said one word.
Voice #2: Innocent?
Voice #3: Victims?
Carl: The answer is: “Dead.”
Let’s move on. What do we call a people who have been driven from their homeland, persecuted for centuries, and put in concentration camps?
Voice #1: Jews!
Carl: Correct!
Voice #2: Palestinians!
Carl: Well, I guess--but that’s different, and in this final round of questions, you will find out why. What do we call Israelis?
Chorus: Allies!
Carl: What do we call Palestinians?
Chorus: Terrorists!
Carl: Well played! Stay tuned next week when we learn the word for “Natural Weather Cycles” on:
Chorus: What’s That Word!
I’m Carl Estrada and that’s my point!
