Chairman and CEO
1211 Avenue of the Americas
New York, NY 10036-8795
Dear Mr. Ailes,
I feel just like Richard Clarke--“out of the loop!”
When I wrote to Rupert Murdoch complaining about the liberal slant Fox News is drifting into, I didn’t even know that you were Chairman and CEO! The last I heard, you were Ronald Reagan’s and George (41) Bush’s campaign consultant. Then you went on to produce the Rush Limbaugh show. So I guess it’s better late than never to say: “Welcome aboard!”
In your letter to me, you said “an opinion show offers many different opinions.” Isn’t that the truth? On Fox News, you can run the whole gamut from Rush to O’Reilly to Ann Coulter in a single hour! But I still think too many opinions can get confusing, and also you risk reporting something that makes Our President look bad. Don’t give any freebies to the Liberal Fonda-Loving Frenchman from Massachusetts! I know you want to be fair and balanced, but sometimes you have to look at the big picture!
You’re right--I don’t believe in government control. But don’t you think you should give Our President and Cheney and Rumsfeld and maybe Condoleezza Rice their own shows, just until after the elections? We can’t take any chances! It was too close last time, and this year, Kerry might be too far ahead for Fox to project Bush the winner before all the votes are in. Maybe you should project Bush the winner now--then Our President won’t have to worry about debates and 9/11 Commissions and CIA Outing Commissions and Energy Hearing Commissions and all these books that everybody’s writing! He’s the “War President” and he can’t be distracted by all these things! We need him to protect us, and it’s up to Fox News to help him out!
Here’s a joke for you:
QUESTION: What kind of music do you like?
ANSWER: I like all kinds of music--Country and Western!
